International star Charice Pempengco, 19, was at a March 8th press conference to promote her concert on March 9 at Araneta Coliseum and she had a new look that shocked some of her fans! The singer said she wanted an “edgier look” like Avril Lavigne andRihanna, rather than the “good girl image” she regularly portrays.

Charice has a shorter, straight blonde haircut and she even sported a tattoo on her left arm with the words, “Love Eternally.”

The singer said that the look was based on one management team wanting her to have a good girl “Selena Gomez” image while the other one wanted her to have an edgier, rock look. She opted for the rocker look that hasn’t gone without controversy.

With her tomboyish hair and tattoo, her critics (and haters) had a “field day” stating that she looked like a lesbian!

Some of the media compared her to openly gay actress/singer Aiza Seguerra.

The singer responded, “I’ve read tons of negative comments and I don’t care. Whatever they think I look somebody or whoever I don’t mind. I mean this is the look that I want. So, the only thing you can do is to move on.”

Some fans may be “scratching their heads” wondering about Charice’s new look when she sings a Whitney Houston ballad or other ballads she’s famous for. Let’s hope her management team is doing the right thing. . . at least for Charice’s sake and her fans.

The singer will be a judge on the upcoming ABS-CBN’s “X Factor” hosted by KC Concepcion.
